THE WORLD'S LARGEST IN THE WATER BOAT SHOW IS COMING UP!

    For many of us, that means it is time to “look but not buy” For some buyers, however, this economic situation is going to produce tremendous bargains on top notch yachts. For these yachtsman, this is not so much of a crisis as it is an opportunity.

    On new boats, particularly under 70', I expect that the astute buyer will see “MSRP” prices slashed by the new boat dealers as they attempt to reduce inventory. For used or brokerage yacht buyers, I do not expect to see “asking prices” reduced very dramatically, but I do expect to see actual sales prices far, far below the listed asking prices.

    This is a time when offering an amount 35% below the “market”, or more, will not be an insult. To the contrary, many boats whose owners are determined to sell their boat will be accepting offers that they would have scoffed at 60 days ago.

    Mediocre boats for a cheap price are one thing, the real bargain comes when you buy a top pedigree yacht that is in top condition for a fraction of the asking price. This is where someone like myself, or your own trusted yacht broker, can really help.

    I know the boats, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. I know the difference between a cheap boat at a cheap price and a top of the line yacht at a bargain price. Bringing that knowledge to bear in your behalf is what a yacht broker does to earn his sales commission.
